Deep-Dive Specialised Energy Forums at Africa Energy Indaba

AEI 2026 presents a comprehensive suite of specialised forums, bringing together Africa’s energy leaders, innovators, and investors to explore the continent’s most pressing opportunities and challenges. From regional power integration and renewable energy breakthroughs to gas, grid modernisation, and emerging technologies, these forums offer actionable insights, strategic partnerships, and investment pathways. Complementing the technical discussions, our niche side forums on Women in Energy and Youth in Energy, provide a platform to advance inclusion, develop talent, and promote responsible energy growth. Together, these six thematic tracks deliver a 360° view of Africa’s energy future, driving innovation, investment, and collaboration across the sector.

The event days are broken down as follows:

Day 2: Renewables, Green Hydrogen, Future Energy & Innovation
Day 3: Inclusion, youth, partnerships, showcases

Day 1: 3 March 2026: Policy, power pools, investment, sustainability

African Power Pools & Regional Integration Forum

Exploring cross-border electricity trade and interconnections to accelerate continental power integration.

  • Focus: Strengthening cross-border electricity trade and interconnections.
  • Stakeholders: SAPP, EAPP, WAPP, CAPP, governments, utilities, regional development banks.
  • Objective: Accelerate integration and investment in continental transmission projects.

Energy Investment & Financing Forum

Connecting investors and developers to unlock capital for Africa’s energy infrastructure projects.

  • Focus: Mobilising capital for Africa’s energy infrastructure – private equity, DFIs, sovereign wealth funds, green finance.
  • Stakeholders: AfDB, Afreximbank, IFC, sovereign funds, commercial banks.
  • Objective: Bridge the gap between investors and bankable African projects.

Day 2: 4 March 2026: Renewables, Green Hydrogen, Future Energy & Innovation

Renewable Energy & Green Hydrogen Forum

Showcasing Africa’s renewable energy potential and emerging opportunities in green hydrogen.

  • Focus: Scaling solar, wind, hydro, and exploring Africa’s potential in green hydrogen.
  • Stakeholders: IPPs, developers, financiers, technology providers.
  • Objective: Unlock bankable renewable projects and highlight Africa’s role in global hydrogen markets.

Future Energy & Innovation Forum

Exploring cutting-edge technologies like energy storage, AI, and smart grids to shape Africa’s energy future.

  • Focus: Emerging technologies – energy storage, digitalisation, AI, smart grids, e-mobility.
  • Stakeholders: Start-ups, innovators, corporates, accelerators.
  • Objective: Position Africa as a testbed for energy innovation and attract partnerships.

Day 3: 5 March 2026: Inclusion, youth, partnerships, showcases

Women in Energy Leadership Forum

Advancing female participation and leadership across Africa’s energy sector.

  • Focus: Advancing women’s participation and leadership in Africa’s energy sector.
  • Key Themes: Skills development, mentorship, gender mainstreaming in policy and projects.
  • Stakeholders: Women executives, entrepreneurs, policymakers, development agencies.
  • Objective: Showcase female leadership and promote inclusive growth in energy.

Youth in Energy & Skills Development Forum

Empowering young talent with skills, innovation opportunities, and career pathways in energy.

  • Focus: Empowering the next generation of African energy leaders.
  • Key Themes: Career pathways, entrepreneurship, innovation challenges, capacity building.
  • Stakeholders: Universities, technical institutions, youth innovators, employers, development partners.
  • Objective: Bridge the skills gap and highlight youth-led solutions in energy.
